StreamTutor (“we”, “us”) is a Chrome extension and website that helps you learn languages from your own Netflix. This policy explains what we collect and why. We aim to collect as little as possible.
What the extension does on Netflix
The extension runs in your browser. It reads the subtitle files your Netflix player already loads, displays dual subtitles, and sends individual subtitle lines to our backend to generate explanations and teacher audio. It does not change which audio track plays and does not modify Netflix's service.
What we store
If you create an account, we store your email and the words and lessons you choose to save so you can review them and sync across devices. We cache generated explanations and audio keyed by subtitle text, language pair, and title so that popular content doesn't need to be regenerated for every user.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. We don't track your full Netflix viewing history. We don't store subtitle content beyond what's needed to cache explanations.
Third parties
We use OpenAI to generate explanations and speech, Supabase for accounts and data storage, and Vercel for hosting. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.
Your choices
You can use the extension without an account. You can delete saved lessons at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us.
